IPL T20 Previous Year’s Performances

IPL 2008:

The Mumbai team struggled in the inaugural IPL season and missed the Playoffs as the Mumbai Indians Team Records of this year was low. They won 7 of 14 games and ended 5th on the points standings. Harbhajan Singh took over as captain after Sachin Tendulkar was injured in the 2008 season. Singh was suspended for slapping Kings XI Punjab’s Sreesanth. IPL 2009:

Mumbai Indians won only 5 of 14 matches in the 2009 IPL. Playoffs were eliminated after the team finished 7th in the points table. Tendulkar, Duminy, and Malinga sought to keep opportunities open for MI, but a lack of contributions from other players dropped the club in the position of the point.

IPL 2010:

Mumbai Indians eventually reached the semi-finals and final in the 3rd IPL season. The squad bought Trinidad all-rounder Kieron Pollard for the 2010 IPL. Mumbai Indians won 7 of their first 8 matches in the 3rd IPL to top the points table. Kieron Pollard’s batting and bowling helped the squad upset Royal Challengers Bangalore in the semi-finals and final. The last match was lost to Chennai Super Kings. IPL 2011:

Rohit Sharma, Andrew Symonds, and Munaf Patel joined Mumbai Indians for the 2011 IPL. The team won 8 of its first 10 matches and finished 3rd on the points table. IPL 2012:

IPL 2013:

The Mumbai Indians won their first IPL title in 2013. Anil Kumble’s mentorship and Rohit Sharma’s captaincy were key to the team’s success. Due to poor batting, Ricky Ponting was replaced as captain by Sharma. Of course, Sachin Tendulkar and Jonty Rhodes advised the team.

Mumbai Indians lost their first match of 2013 but bounced back in the second. Kieron Pollard, Dinesh Karthik, and Rohit Sharma helped the team reach the Playoffs and the final. Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings to win the 6th IPL.

IPL 2014:

Defending champions struggled in 2014. They lost their first 5 UAE matches. However, the team performed well in India. IPL 2015:

Mumbai Indians won their 2nd IPL in 2015. Mumbai lost the first four matches of the 8th IPL. MI’s poor bowling contributed to the losses. The squad also lost two great players, Corey Anderson and Aaron Finch, to injuries. With his strong batting, Lendl Simmons helped the squad reach the playoffs. Simmons was supported by Kieron Pollard, Ambati Rayudu, and Rohit Sharma. They defeated Chennai Super Kings to win their second IPL title.

IPL 2016:

The 2016 IPL champions Mumbai Indians struggled in the 9th edition. They won 7 of 14 matches but finished 5th on the points standings, eliminating their playoff aspirations.

IPL 2017:

Mumbai Indians won their 3rd IPL title in 2017. The team started the 2017 IPL well, winning 10 of 14 matches and topping the points table. They overcame Rising Pune Supergiant to win their 3rd IPL title. The Mumbai-Pune final is the best IPL match ever. Mumbai Indians won the 2017 IPL.

IPL 2018:

The reigning champions struggled in the 11th IPL. Mumbai Indians won 6 of 14 matches. They missed the playoffs after finishing 5th in points.

The triumph put the team among the most successful IPL teams ever. Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Giants in a thrilling final. Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya won “Harrier Super Striker of the Match” on three and two occasions, respectively, for MI. In addition, debutant Alzzari Joseph set an Indian Premier League bowling record.

IPL 2020:

IPL 2020 Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians have traditionally dominated IPL. IPL 2017:

Delhi Daredevils started 2017 poorly without Duminy and De Kock. They relied on a somewhat inexperienced line-up, comprising Shami, Chris Morris, Pat Cummins, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, and others. Naturally, Zaheer Khan led the team. Delhi lost to RCB but won their following two matches against Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab. IPL 2018:

Delhi struggled again in the 2018 IPL. After losing to Rajasthan Royals, the team triumphed against Mumbai Indians. They dropped three more matches to KKR, RCB, and KXIP. After beating Kolkata Knight Riders, they lost to Chennai Super Kings. Delhi won 4 of 14 matches and ended last in the points table.

IPL 2019:

After six years of struggle, Delhi had a better 12th IPL season. The squad could reach the playoffs again. They beat Mumbai Indians in the season opener but fell to CSK in the second match. The team lost to Punjab and Hyderabad after beating KKR in the third match. The team recovered and won the next three matches. Delhi Capitals finished 3rd on the points rankings after winning 9 of 14 matches. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator stage but lost to Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier round and missed the final. Delhi Capitals debuted in the 2019 IPL.

IPL 2020:

Delhi Capitals Team Records has not improved much since 2008, but in 2020 it performed miraculously. Players have played well and determinedly in most departments. IPL 2020 Delhi Capitals performed well. Captain Shreyas Iyer was young. Delhi Capitals bowled well in IPL 2020. Kagiso Rabada, the team’s seam bowler, got a purple cap for the most wickets in IPL 2020. IPL 2020 runners-up Delhi Capitals They lost the finals to Mumbai Indians. Marcus Stoinis helped Delhi. Marcus Stoinis excelled for Delhi Capitals throughout the competition. Delhi Capitals won 8 of 14 league matches and finished 2nd. In IPL 2020, they lost to Mumbai but beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier. Delhi lost four matches to Mumbai. This youthful Delhi team improved greatly.

The 2008 IPL’s first captain was Virender Sehwag. 2009 skipper Gautam Gambhir. Virender Sehwag was reappointed captain in 2011 and remained captain until 2012. The 2013 IPL captain was Mahela Jayawardene. Kevin Pietersen captained IPL 2014. JP Duminy was a captain in 2015 and Zaheer Khan in 2016. Gautam Gambhir became a captain in 2018. 2019 captain Shreyas Iyer. Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant.

Since 2008, the Delhi team has been owned by GMR Group, a major property development company. But in March of 2018, GMR sold JSW Sports a 50% stake. At the moment, GMR Group and JSW Sports both own Delhi Capitals.

At least six of the ten IPL teams that are already up and running have shown interest in buying a WIPL team. Based on the information in the table above, BCCI has decided that the WIPL will begin right after the Women’s Cricket World Cup. The name of each zone decided by BCCI will tell us how many games will be played by each of the five teams.

In the current playing eleven, the team can have more than 5 players from outside the country. There will be 8 players from outside of the country. The rest of them will be Indian women who play cricket.

At the Auction of the Teams, the Man’s IPL franchise will be given priority by BCCI. If the current franchise doesn’t want to buy a team, BCCI will give the team a new franchise.

10) Ravindra Jadeja banned for one season:

Ravindra Jadeja, who is now one of the best all-rounders in the country, was banned from playing in IPL in 2010 for trying to sign a new contract with another franchise (allegedly Mumbai Indians) without telling his team Rajasthan Royals, for whom he had played in the previous season.

9) Players from Sri Lanka are not allowed to play in Chennai:

Last season, there was a big fuss because Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who wants to be Prime Minister, wouldn’t let Sri Lankan players play in IPL games in Chennai. The Sri Lankan Tamils issue, which is the most important issue in Tamil politics, led to this extreme step. But what was surprising being that the decision had to be made by the all-powerful IPL governing council. Thirteen Sri Lankan players, including legends like Kumara Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, were not allowed to play in Chennai because of security concerns.

8) Wayne Parnell and Rahul Sharma were apprehended at a “Rave Party”:

Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who used to play for the now-defunct Pune Warriors, were held in 2012 on suspicion that they took drugs at a rave party in Mumbai. The cricketers were found with a number of well-known people from the movie and TV industries. They were detained, but were let go after passing drug tests.

But both players denied the accusations and said “they were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” which seemed like a strange excuse. Rahul Sharma even said he would stop playing cricket if the test results were good. But even though Raul Sharma tested positive for drug use, he was not punished in any way.

7) Luke Pomersbach had sexual contact with an American woman:

People thought that the Australian middle-order batsman who made his IPL debut with Kings XI Punjab would become the next big IPL star. In 2011, he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for $50,000. However, he made headlines not for his skills on the field but for his actions off the field, when he was arrested for molesting a US woman by the Delhi Police.

6) BCCI expel Kochi franchise for ownership pattern breach:

Kochi Tuskers Kerala was kicked out of the league by the BCCI because they broke their contract and didn’t give a new bank guarantee for 2011.

Tuskers Kerala’s start in the IPL was rough, and their end was just as rough. After a controversial attempt to join the money-making T20 bonanza, which caused union cabinet minister Shashi Tharoor to quit his job, the Kochi team couldn’t keep going. The BCCI finally ended its contract with it in September 2011 because it had broken the terms of the contract.

5) Sourav Ganguly was fired from Kolkata Knight Riders:

Sourav Ganguly was the captain of the KKR team for the first three seasons. When he was kicked off the team, dada fans all over India were furious. This was one of the most emotional issues in the IPL.

Shah Rukh, the owner of KKR and the king of Bollywood, was criticized for getting rid of Ganguly. The former Indian captain did, however, find a team for the fourth season in Pune Warriors, which made Dada fans very happy.

4) The big fight Shah Rukh Khan had at Wankhede:

Now, everyone knows that Shah Rukh Khan and trouble go hand in hand. In 2012, there was a fight with security staff at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He is said to have cursed at the security staff.

Because of this, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) told Shah Rukh he couldn’t go to the stadium for the next five years. Even though many well-known politicians have asked for the ban to be lifted, it is still in place.

3) Sreesanth-Harbhajan slap gate:

The infamous slap-gate between Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh in the first season of IPL in 2008 is the third thing on our list.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) got into a fierce bidding war

The 10 teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) got into a fierce bidding war to get the best players for the next IPL season. Teams fought to get their favorite players in what was called a “mini-IPL auction.” Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Cameron Green, and Mayank Agarwal were some of the most expensive players to buy. There were a total of 405 players in the auction pool, with a maximum of 87 spots to be filled. Teams had to choose 30 players from outside the United States. The sale took place in Kochi.

On Friday, England all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history when Punjab Kings bid a mind-boggling Rs 18.5 crore for him. Cameroon Green, an all-rounder from Australia, was the second-highest earner. Mumbai Indians bid Rs 17.5 crore for him. England’s Harry Brook, who bats in the middle of the order, won Rs 13.25 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad. Brook started at a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. He scored three hundred in as many games and set a new record for the most runs scored by an England batter in a Test series in Pakistan.

The most expensive buy in IPL history is English all-rounder Sam Curran for 18.50 crore. In IPL 2023, he’ll be playing for PBKS. Despite being unable to find buyers in the first phase of the auction, big names like Joe Root, Shakib Al Hasan, and Rilee Roussouw were picked up by franchises at the last minute. The first two sets have already seen some big buys, including Harry Brook for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Cameron Green for Mumbai Indians (MI) for ₹17.50 crore.

But Punjab Kings splashed a whopping 18.50 crore to land Sam Curran.

Intense bidding began with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), followed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

3. Chris Morris (to RR) and Ben Stokes (to CSK) – ₹16.25 crore

Chris Morris became the most expensive player in the 2021 IPL mini-auction when Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought him for ₹16.25 crore.

An intense bidding war saw his value soar from a base price of $75 lacs to a whopping 16.25 crore.

Later today, CSK matched the 16.25 crore price tag for England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes in the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

In the upcoming IPL season, Stokes will be coached by MS Dhoni, who is the joint-third-most expensive buy.

2. Cameron Green to MI – ₹17.50 crore

During the IPL auctions on Friday, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green became the 2nd most expensive player ever with a sale for $17.5 crore to the Mumbai Indians.

As one of the hottest properties in world cricket, the 23-year-old has been in phenomenal form for Australia recently across all formats.

Keiron Pollard, who retired ahead of the IPL 2023 season, will probably be replaced by Green, who had a successful T20I series against India in September.

1. Sam Curran to PBKS – ₹18.50 crore

In the Indian Premier League, Sam Curran became the most expensive player ever.

PBKS (Punjab Kings) have acquired Curran from the T20 World Cup champions, Punjab Kings (PBKS) for an astonishing amount of ₹18.50 crore.

Based on his impressive recent performances for England, Curran was expected to spark a bidding war.
