IPL 2008:

The Chennai Super Kings’ first game in the IPL was a big win over Punjab Kings, which set the record for the highest total (240/5) in any IPL game. In 2010, the team itself broke that record. They also made it to the IPL final, where they lost to Rajasthan Royals.

IPL 2009:

Andrew Flintoff, who was the highest-paid player in the second IPL, was signed by the Chennai team again in 2009. This season, Fleming took over as the team’s coach, while Dhoni stayed as the team captain. During the 2009 season, the team played 15 games, and they won 8 of those games. IPL 2011:

IPL 2012:

Ravindra Jadeja joined Chennai Super Kings in the 2012 IPL. CSK started slowly but won 3 of 4 matches to qualify for the playoffs. They overcame Mumbai Indians in Eliminator but lost to Delhi Daredevils in Qualifying Final. CSK reached the final to face Kolkata Knight Riders, however, a spirited battle from the latter prevented the team from earning a hat-trick at the IPL.

IPL 2013:

Five Indian and five foreign bowlers joined CSK for 2013. From the opening match, they made a great start and topped the points table for the first time. Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians in the first Qualifier and faced them in the 2013 IPL final. The final was lost to Mumbai. Michael Hussey and Dwayne Bravo won the Orange and Purple Caps.

IPL 2014:

Chennai Super Kings bought world-class cricketers for their 7th IPL season. Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum, Faf du Pleiss, Mohit Sharma, etc. The squad started the IPL with a loss, but they won 8 of their next 9 matches and ended first on the points table. In the Playoffs, they overcame Mumbai Indians in Eliminator but fell to Punjab Kings in Qualifier. Due to a conflict, CSK played at JSCA International Stadium in 2014.

IPL 2018:

Chennai Super Kings returned to the IPL after two years in 2018. CSK started the innings with Indian cricket imports like Irfan Pathan, Ankush Bains, Rahul Sharma, and others. Dhoni and his team won their comeback season opener against Mumbai Indians. Their first home win of the season against KKR followed. Chennai Super Kings won 11 of 16 matches this season. CSK won their 3rd IPL after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the qualifier and final.

IPL 2019:

Chennai was the first IPL team to reach the playoffs in 2019. The team won 10 of 17 matches this season. They lost the final to Mumbai Indians by 1 run. Imran Tahir, CSK’s star bowler, won the Purple Cup for taking the most wickets in the 2019 IPL.

IPL 2020:

IPL 2020 Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni. This team has been consistent in tournaments since its debut, excluding 2020. Team Owner:

India Cements owns Chennai Super Kings since 2008. The cement company paid $91 million for the team. N. Srinivasan, former ICC Chairman, India Cements managing director, and vice-chairman owned CSK. After the 2015 legal struggle, the franchisee was transferred to Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd. by the Supreme Court.
