Domestic career of Zahir Khan
On August 10, 2017, he made his List A debut for the Band-e-Amir Region during the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament. With twelve dismissals, he shared the tournament’s top wicket-taking honors with Karim Janat. On September 12, 2017, he played his first Twenty20 match for Mis Ainak Knights in the Shpageeza Cricket League.

International career of Zahir Khan:
Afghanistan selected him for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2017. Rajasthan Royals acquired Zahir during the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018. In December 2018, he was selected for Afghanistan’s under-23 squad for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In May 2018, Afghanistan played their first-ever Test match against India. However, he was not selected for the program.
As part of the Afghan cricket team against Ireland in February 2019, Zahir played both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
