Career of Nijat Masood:
On August 10, 2017, he made his List A debut for the Mis Ainak Region during the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament. He was a member of the Afghanistan team that competed in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup prior to making his List A debut.
On October 20, 2017, he participated in the 2017–18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament for Band-e-Amir Region, collecting six wickets for 55 runs in the first innings. With thirteen dismissals in five games, Nijat Masood was the top Wicket-taker in the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament in July. His name was on the Kabul team’s roster for the first Afghanistan Premier League in September 2018.
T20 Career of Nijat Masood
On October 5, 2018, he played his first Twenty20 match for the Boost Defenders in the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. With seventeen dismissals in five games, he had the most wickets taken in the 2019 Afghanistan Provincial Challenge Cup. Nijat Masood made it to Afghanistan’s team roster for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh last November. His impressive performance in the said tournament earned him a spot in Afghanistan’s Test team for their upcoming match against the West Indies.
International T20 Career of Nijat Masood
Afghanistan’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team played Bangladesh in February 2022. In May 2022, he was selected for Afghanistan’s T20I series against Zimbabwe, as well as their ODI team as a reserve. On June 11, 2022, he played for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe in his first T20I match. On June 14, 2023, he played in his first Afghanistan Test match against Bangladesh.
