Predicting the Starting XI for LSG in IPL 2023

Starting XI for LSG: Lucknow Super Giants had a great first season in the IPL 2022. Under the leadership of India’s best batsman, KL Rahul, they made it to the playoffs. The LSG team had a good start to the IPL, so when the mini auctions happened a few months ago, they didn’t make too many changes to their potential core.

Even though they gave up players like Evin Lewis and Jason Holder from the West Indies, the LSG picked up Nicholas Pooran and all-rounder Romario Shepard at the auctions. Both of these players have done well in the shortest version of the game, so this should help the team a lot. The Super Giants will start their season on April 1, 2023, against a strong Delhi Capitals team. This will be a home game for the LSG team. Lets have a look for Starting XI for LSG-

Predicting Lucknow Super Giants’ starting lineup (IPL 2023):

Openers: KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul, who is the team’s captain, make a great opening pair for the Lucknow Super Giants. The left and right players are very good and can take the game away from the other team during power plays. They have the ability to throw off any bowler on their day, and if both of them have a good IPL, Lucknow could go all the way.

In international cricket, KL Rahul hasn’t been at his best in recent years, but in the IPL, he’s been a different animal. Rahul is one of the best players in IPL cricket. In 109 games, he has played in the toughest T20 league and averaged a stunning 48. He did this with a strike rate of 136. The South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton is a great white-ball player who has done well for both South Africa and the different IPL teams he has played for.

Middle-order: Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni

Since the last IPL, Deepak Hooda has played T20Is for India and got a century. The squad management trusts the all-rounder to perform well at No.3. Hooda played well in the IPL, especially last season. The all-rounder scored 451 runs at over 136 with 4 half-centuries in 15 games to repay the team management’s faith in him at no.3.

Despite his inconsistent IPL performance, LSG bought Nicholas Pooran at 16 crores. Pooran was released by SRH after a stronger IPL season in 2022, when he scored 306 runs at 144. Pooran is wanted by Lucknow and should bat fourth in LSG’s current batting order. Ayush Badoni, a 23-year-old hitter, scored a half-century on his IPL debut but faded at the end. The Rahul-led LSG team hopes Badoni will have multiple good performances in the middle order.

All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, Krishnappa Gowtham/ Mohsin Khan

Marcus Stoinis is one of the best players in the world of cricket at hitting the ball hard, so he should be picked automatically for the LSG playing XI. He has won games with both the bat and the ball, so the LSG will be looking for big things from him in the next IPL season.

Krunal Pandya is a true all-rounder in the IPL. In 98 games, he has taken 61 wickets and scored 1326 runs. He has done a lot for the teams he has played for. Krunal’s last season was a mixed bag, and he wasn’t at his best like he usually is. The all-rounder will try to do better in 2023. Krishnappa Gowtham might have to play the role of an off-spinner and bowl during the powerplays if needed. And that spot in the playing XI can go either to him or to Mohsin Khan, who bowls left-handed.

Bowlers: Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi

LSG will benefit a lot from having pace attackers Avesh Khan and Mark Wood on their team. Both are very fast and can really take wickets when they’re on. It will be interesting to see if Wood stays healthy enough to play the whole IPL. If he does, that will be a huge boost for the LSG. Avesh has done very well in the IPL. In the most recent season, the Indian fast bowler took 18 wickets, adding to the 23 wickets he took in the 2021 season.

Last but not least, Ravi Bishnoi is a must-have for the team. With the ball in hand, he can be the game-winner that LSG is looking for.
