Domestic career of Keshav Maharaj:

At the age of 16, Maharaj made his first-class debut for KwaZulu-Natal in the 2006–07 season. In 2009–10, he received a promotion to the Dolphins squad. In two four-day matches against the Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy in April and May 2010, Maharaj traveled to Bangladesh with the South Africa Academy and claimed 13 wickets. He opened the bowling and finished with 4 for 12 off of four overs. In 2010–2011, he competed for South Africa A against a visiting Bangladesh A side.

The 2012–13 season, when Maharaj amassed 481 first-class runs at an average of 48.10, including two hundred, was his finest batting campaign to date. He scored 114 unanswered points off 119 balls for KwaZulu-Natal versus Northerns, and he finished the game with 5 for 12. Maharaj recorded his best innings and match totals to that point for the Dolphins against the Cape Cobras in 2014–15: 6 for 58 and 10 for 145. Maharaj was selected to the Durban Heat team’s roster in September 2019 in preparation for the Mzansi Super League competition. Maharaj registered with Middlesex on an international basis for the Vitality t20 Blast and the LV= County Championship on February 27, 2023. Maharaj was included in the South Africa team in October 2016 for their series against Australia. On November 3, 2016, he faced off against the Australians in his first Test match. By taking three key wickets, he contributed to the Australian batting order’s first-innings collapse. At Perth, he was the first specialist spinner to play in a Test match. Maharaj received the International Newcomer of the Year award from Cricket South Africa in May 2017. He claimed his 50th test wicket in the opening match against Bangladesh in October 2017.

Maharaj recorded his greatest Test bowling stats in an innings of 9 for 129 during the second Test match against Sri Lanka in July 2018, as well as the best bowling figures ever recorded by a visiting bowler during a Test inning in Sri Lanka.
