Early life of Ebadot Hossain
A Bengali Muslim family of Chowdhuries from the village of Kathaltali in Barlekha, Moulvibazar District, gave birth to Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury on January 7, 1994. He was the second of Nizamuddin Chowdhury and Samia Begum’s six children.
Ebadot Hossain, a volleyball player, enlisted in the Bangladesh Air Force in 2012. He participated in a pacer hunt tournament held by BCB in 2016 that was overseen by Aaqib Javed. Aaqib chose Ebadot for the High-Performance program at BCB. As a result, Ebadot switched from playing volleyball to playing cricket.
Domestic career of Ebadot Hossain:
On September 25, 2016, Ebadot made his first-class debut for Sylhet Division in the 2016–17 National Cricket League. On May 8, 2017, in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for the 2016–17 season, Ebadot made his List A debut for Mohammedan Sporting Club. He played his first Twenty20 match for Rangpur Riders in the 2017–18 Bangladesh Premier League. With thirteen dismissals in six games, Ebadot led Central Zone in wicket-taking in the 2017–18 Bangladesh Cricket League.
After the draft for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League, Ebadot was selected for the Sylhet Sixers club in October 2018. The following month, he earned his first ten-wicket match haul in first-class cricket while bowling for North Zone in the 2018–19 Bangladesh Cricket League. He was one of 35 cricketers selected for a training camp in August 2019 in preparation for Bangladesh’s 2019–20 season.
International career of Ebadot Hossain:
During Bangladesh’s visit to New Zealand in November 2016, Ebadot was part of a 22-person training squad. Bangladesh’s Test lineup against New Zealand in February 2019 included Ebadot. On February 28, 2019, he played in his maiden Test match for Bangladesh against New Zealand, taking down Neil Wagner for his first test wicket.
His first five-wicket haul in Test cricket came against New Zealand at Bay Oval in the opening match of the series in January 2022. He finished with a result of 6/46, which helped Bangladesh win their maiden Test match against New Zealand and their first home victory over them in 33 matches across all forms. Hossain took seven wickets during the game, earning him the title of Man of the Match.
He was part of Bangladesh’s One Day International (ODI) team against Afghanistan in February 2022. In March 2022, he was a member of Bangladesh’s ODI team against South Africa. Ebadot was once more selected for Bangladesh’s ODI team in May 2022, but this time for their series against the West Indies. He was included in Bangladesh’s ODI team for their tour of Zimbabwe in August 2022. On August 10, 2022, he played in his first ODI for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe.
