Domestic career of Mominul Haque:

Mominul played in a National Cricket League (NCL) match for Dhaka Division versus Chittagong Division during the 2008–09 season, marking his first-class cricket debut.

Later in the season, he made his List A cricket debut for the team, but these were his last appearances for Dhaka; by the next year, he was competing for Chittagong in the NCL.

As of December 2022, he was still representing East Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League competition and Chittagong in domestic cricket.

Mominul made his Twenty20 debut for a Bangladesh Cricket Board XI against the visiting West Indians. In 2011 and was chosen to play for Barisal Burners in the inaugural season of the Bangladesh Premier League in 2012. Since then, he has participated in the competition for five of the eight franchises.

He scored 129 runs in 2013–14 while playing for Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club against Abahani Limited in a Dhaka Premier Division match, where he partnered with Roshen Silva to score 276 runs. Setting a new record for the biggest fourth-wicket partnership in List A cricket. This continues to be the longest fourth-wicket partnership in any List A cricket match as of December 2022.

International career of Mominul Haque:

In place of the injured Shakib Al Hasan, Mominul made his ODI and Twenty20 (T20) debut against the West Indies in a home series in November and December 2012. He amassed 69 runs and two wickets in four games.

He played in his first Test match in March 2013 at Galle against Sri Lanka. In his first Test series, he notched a half-century on his debut and concluded the tour with 156 runs in three innings at a batting average of 52.00 runs per innings.

In a Test match against New Zealand in Chittagong in 2013, he scored his first century, which came off exactly 100 balls.

Mominul recorded a 2nd century in the second Test of the series, becoming just the second Bangladesh batsman, after Tamim Iqbal. To record hundreds in back-to-back Test games. During the season, he achieved a second century at Chittagong, this one against the Sri Lankan tourists.

After scoring 50 runs during the team’s tour of New Zealand in the beginning of 2017. He struggled with his form and was cut from the lineup before Australia’s August tour of Bangladesh.

Test career of Mominul Haque:

In 2015, Mominul led Bangladesh A team. He was named the 11th captain of Bangladesh’s Test team after Shakib Al Hasan was given a two-year ban from all cricket by the International Cricket Council, for violating the ICC’s Anti-Corruption rule.

In November 2019, Mominul led his team on a two-match trip to India in his debut series as a Test captain. Within three days, Bangladesh lost both games by an inning.

Bangladesh visited Sri Lanka for a two-match series in April 2021. Mominul’s maiden Test century outside of Bangladesh came in the first Test, where he scored 127. Bangladesh managed a draw in the first Test but lost by 209 runs in the second.

In July, Bangladesh won a one-off Test in Zimbabwe by 220 runs, giving the captain a second victory. When Pakistan visited Bangladesh in late 2021, much of day two and all of day three of the second Test were canceled because of weather.

Mominul played in his 50th Test match during Bangladesh’s opening Test of their tour of South Africa in early 2022. Making him the seventh Bangladeshi to play in 50 or more Tests. Again, the team suffered a crushing defeat.

Shakib al Hasan was reinstated as Bangladesh’s Test captain in May 2022, after serving his ban, and Mominul resigned as captain due to poor batting performances.

Records of Mominul Haque:

Mominul is the only Bangladeshi and one of just six batters to have 11 or more Test match scores of at least fifty. He was the first Bangladeshi batsman to record 10 centuries in Test cricket, as well as the first to score centuries in both innings in a Test match.
