Afghan cricketer Mohammad Yamin Ahmadzai was born on July 25, 1992. Right-handed batter Ahmadzai also bowls right-arm medium-fast. He was born in the province of Laghman. In June 2018, when Afghanistan played India in its first-ever Test match, he was one of the eleven cricketers that took the pitch and recorded Afghanistan’s maiden Test wicket.
Cricket Career of Yamin Ahmadzai:
At the 2010 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, Ahmadzai made his debut for the Afghanistan Under-19s against the India Under-19s in a Youth One Day International. In that matchup, he played in two more Youth One Day Internationals, losing to Papua New Guinea Under-19s and Hong Kong Under-19s. Additionally, he represented the Under-19s in Ireland’s 2011 Under-19 World Cup qualifier, which enabled Afghanistan to advance to the 2012 main event.
International T20 career of Yamin Ahmadzai
He played his first Twenty20 match for the Afghan Cheetahs against Multan Tigers in the Faysal Bank Twenty-20 Cup later that year. In the Cheetahs’ innings, he scored an undefeated solitary run. While in the Tigers’ innings, he bowled just one over and gave up 17 runs.
ODI career of Yamin Ahmadzai
On November 29, 2015, he made his Afghanistan Twenty20 debut against Oman. On December 25, 2015, he played in his first One Day International for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe. In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he also competes for the Pakistani team Habib Bank Limited in first-class cricket.
Test cricket career of Yamin Ahmadzai
He was included in the Afghanistan team for their first-ever Test match against India in May 2018. On June 14, 2018, he played his first Test for Afghanistan against India. Just after midday on the opening day, he dismissed Shikhar Dhawan to record Afghanistan’s maiden Test wicket. He was included in the Afghanistan Test team in February 2019 for their one-off match against Ireland in India.
