Hendrik Erasmus “Rassie” van der Dussen, a South African professional cricket player who competes for both Gauteng and the South Africa national cricket team, was born on February 7, 1989. He was one of the five Cricketers of the Year in the 2018 South African Cricket Annual.

Van der Dussen won the International Men’s Newcomer of the Year award at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards presentation in August 2019. He received a central contract with Cricket South Africa for the 2019–20 season later that month.

Club Career

Rassie van der Dussen has also been associated with a number of clubs. In the first season of Global T20 Canada, he was the leading scorer for the Vancouver Knights. As a result of his performance, he scored 255 runs in matches.

During the first Mzansi Super League T20 event in October 2018, Van der Dussen was selected for the Jozi Stars team. Van der Dussen will represent the Vancouver Knights franchise side in the 2019 Global T20 Canada competition in June 2019. In September of that year, he was included on the Jozi Stars team’s roster for the 2019 Mzansi Super League. In December 2019, Islamabad United selected him as their final pick in the supplemental round of the 2020 Pakistan Super League player draft.

Van der Dussen was selected for the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots roster for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League in July of that year. Van der Dussen, however, was one of five South African cricketers who did not compete in the event as a result of not making timely travel arrangements. He was purchased by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2022 Indian Premier League auction in February of that year.

Van der Dussen was selected for South Africa’s Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Zimbabwe in September 2018. On October 9, 2018, he played in his first T20I for South Africa against Zimbabwe. The South African One Day International (ODI) team against Pakistan in January 2019 included him. On January 19, 2019, he played his first ODI for South Africa against Pakistan. Van der Dussen made his ODI debut and was within seven runs of his first century. Three days later, at Kingsmead Stadium, he recorded an unbeaten 80. Over the course of the five ODIs, he scored 241 runs overall, for an average of 120.5.
