At the age of 16, Mushfiqur began his international career in 2005 against England. In his maiden Test game, he was forced to take the field as a specialist batsman. As a result, he played at Lord’s Cricket Stadium as the sport’s youngest player. He continued to bat consistently further down the order, and he was an excellent wicketkeeper for Bangladesh’s spin-heavy attack. Mushfiqur Rahim’s batting is so adaptable, according to Jamie Siddons, the former coach of Bangladesh, that he can bat anywhere in the top order, from one to six. His followers in Bangladesh refer to him as “Mr Dependable”.

International career of Mushfiqur Rahim:

Mushfiqur Rahim was chosen for the 2005 Bangladesh tour of England. The batters of Bangladesh battled throughout the series against seam bowling and inconsistent bounce due to the unfamiliar circumstances they encountered on their first trip of England. In the practice matches, Mushfiqur modified his batting approach, “consistently playing late and straight,” according to Wisden, and managed to score 63 against Sussex and 115 not out against Northamptonshire.

In July 2007, Mashud was replaced for the second Test match against Sri Lanka by Mushfiqur Rahim. Even though Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Ashraful, the new captain, scored a record 191 runs for Bangladesh’s sixth-wicket partnership, Bangladesh still lost by an innings and 90 runs. One of 22 core contracts with the Board at the time, Mushfiqur Rahim received a one-year grade B (third tier) contract from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in December 2007.

A tri-series with Pakistan and India and the 2008 Asia Cup all coincided with Mushfiqur Rahim’s return. After 17 contracts were released in April 2009, Bangladesh’s top goalkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim’s contract was renewed.
