Most Thrilling IPL Final: Close matches and matches going down the wire have been steady throughout the season. These nail-biting finishes not only bring out the best of players under pressure but also keep fans on the edge of their seats.
There have been occasions when some teams looked like they were down and out – whether it was chasing or defending a total – but some magical performance came out of nowhere, helping them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in Most Thrilling IPL Final.

But things got better over time, and everyone got to see one of the best and most exciting seasons of the Indian Premier League, with many close games and extra overs. On November 10, the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals will play in the final of this great IPL season at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

1. Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals (2008)
When the IPL was first started, it was called the DLF IPL, and the great Shane Warne was in charge of the Rajasthan team that played against Chennai. The Royals won the coin toss and decided to go for it.
The team scored 163 runs with the help of captain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. But Yusuf Pathan stole the show. He took three wickets and scored 56 runs in only 39 balls. Rajasthan needed 8 runs in the last over to win, and the game went down to the last ball. In the end, Shane Warne’s team won the first IPL.
2. Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (2016)
This IPL final was also different because it featured two teams that had never been in the final before. Bangalore, which was led by Virat Kohli, looked like the clear favourite, but things didn’t go the way he wanted. Hyderabad got a huge score of 208, but they lost 5 wickets. The game was about to get exciting.
Bangalore looked like they were in trouble, but the captain and Chris Gayle scored 100 runs quickly and started to change the game. But in the end, there was a twist: after RCB lost Gayle and Kohli, no one could stay at the crease and bring the team home, and they lost the title by just 8 runs.
3. Mumbai Indians vs Rising Pune Supergiants (2017)
In the first season of IPL 2016, MS Dhoni’s new team didn’t think much of him. He lost his job as captain because of this, and Steve Smith was chosen instead. In the 2017 season, Pune was much better, and they easily made it to the finals. They played Mumbai Indians, who lost to them three times that season, including in the Qualifier 1. Mumbai only put up 129 runs on the board, thanks in large part to Krunal Pandya’s crucial 47, because Pune’s bowlers were so good.
When Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith were at the crease, Pune got off to a good start. However, a few tight overs at the end choked Pune to death. Rohit Sharma’s plan was perfect, as Mumbai only needed to defend 11 runs in the last over with Steve Smith and Manoj Tiwary at the crease. But it was Mitchell Johnson’s day, and he made sure that his team won its third IPL trophy.
4. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings (2012)
The Chennai Super Kings were on a whole different page. This was their fourth IPL final, and they were about to win their third final in a row.
On the other hand, this was Kolkata’s first time in the finals. CSK got to 190/3 in 20 overs, and Kolkata’s run chase wasn’t the best because they lost their captain, Gautam Gambhir, very early on. But Manvinder Singh Bisla and Jacques Kallis stuck together for 136 runs, and Kallis’ 69 runs off 49 balls helped KKR win their first IPL championship.
5. Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings (2019)
After winning the IPL in their comeback season in 2018, Chennai was on a roll again as they headed to the finals. Both teams had already won three titles, so this match was already going to be great. Mumbai’s top order fell apart, but Kieron Pollard saved the day with 41 runs off 25 balls, which helped the team score 149 runs.
When Shane Watson beat Krunal Pandya in the 18th over of the game, it seemed like things were going pretty well for Chennai. But Jasprit Bumrah’s tight 19th over, MS Dhoni’s controversial run-out, and Lasith Malinga’s brilliant final slower one tricked Shardul Thakur, and the Mumbai Indians won their fourth IPL title by one run.
