Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi is a professional cricket team from Pakistan that plays Twenty20 cricket in the Pakistan Super League PSL. They have been in the tournament since its first year in 2015 and won the PSL 3 title. They play for Peshawar, which is the capital city of KPK. Their home field is Arbab Niaz Stadium.

They have a lot of players who play at the international and national level. Also, a lot of their coaching and management staff are former cricket players who played on the international level. They are also Pakistan’s most valuable sports team, worth more than $40 million. The team’s captain right now is Wahab Riaz, and their head coach is James Foster.

Peshawar Zalmi PSL History:

PSL 1 2016:

In their first season, Zalmi’s started off well because they won the first two games of the tournament before losing the next two. They won the last six games and made it into the playoffs. They lost both of their games in that round and were out.

After the group stage, they won 6 of the 8 games they played and had the most points (12).

PSL 2 2017:

Before the next season started, Peshawar made some changes. They traded Aamer Yamin to Lahore Qalandars for Sohaib Maqsood. They kept 10 players and added a lot of big names like Eoin Morgan, Chris Jordan, and Shakib Al Hasan. Peshawar Zalmi made it to the playoffs by staying at the top of the table of points.

They won 4 of the 8 games they played, and one game had no outcome. We made it to the playoffs and lost to Quetta in the first qualifying match. They beat Karachi Kings in the eliminator match and made it to the finals, where they played Quetta Gladiators again and beat them by 58 runs to win the PSL for the first time.

PSL 3 2018:

In the first game of the season, they lost by 7 wickets to a new team called Multan Sultans. They beat Islamabad United in their second game. Then, Peshawar made it to the play-offs, where they played against Quetta and Karachi to get to the finals.

They won 5 of their 10 matches in the group stage, which put them in third place on the points table. In the final game, they lost to Islamabad United, so they didn’t win the tournament. Instead, they came in second.

PSL 4 2019:

Peshawar Zalmi’s first game of the season was a loss, as Quetta Gladiators beat them by 6 wickets. Then, they were able to win most of their games and get into the playoffs. One of the best teams in the tournament, they were.

They had 14 points and won 7 of their 10 group games, which put them at the top of the points table. In the qualifying game, they lost to Quetta Gladiators. In the elimination game, they played Islamabad United and beat them. They lost to the Quetta Gladiators in the final match, so they came in second.

PSL 5 2020:

In this tournament, they lost their first and third matches, but they won their second and fourth matches. This year, they were again one of the top teams that could have won the PSL trophy. They went on to make the playoffs, but they were out after the first match.

Peshawar Zalmi finished with 9 points and fourth place on the points table. They won 4 of their 10 group games. One match led to nothing.

PSL 6 2021:

This time of year. Peshawar lost their first game, but then won their next three games to get back on track. They won five of their ten group games and got 10 points, which was good enough for third place and a spot in the play-offs.

In the playoffs, they beat Karachi Kings and Islamabad United to get to the final, where they played Multan Sultans and lost by 47 runs.

PSL 7 2022:

Peshawar beat the Quetta Gladiators by 5 wickets in their first game of the season. They then lost their next two games to Lahore and Islamabad. They won six of their ten group games, which gave them 12 points and put them in the third spot on the points table. This put them in the running for the play-offs.

They were knocked out of the tournament in the first play-off game when they lost by 5 wickets to Islamabad United. They came in fourth place in the tournament.
