Gujarat Lions

Gujarat Lions was an Indian Premier League cricket team based in the city of Rajkot. They played for the state of Gujarat (IPL). They were in the IPL. The team, along with Rising Pune Supergiant, filled in for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for two seasons between 2016 and 2017. Their owners had broken the rules by betting illegally, so both teams were banned for two years. Intex Technologies had the rights to the brand.

In the 2016 IPL, the team played five of its home games at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot and two at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. In the 2016 IPL, the team won 9 games and had the most points.

In 2017, the team only won four of its fourteen games, so it didn’t make the playoffs. The team did not get another chance to play in the tournament, so it hasn’t been around since 2017. In 2022, the Gujarat Titans, another team from Gujarat, joined the IPL.
