Abu Dhabi T10 League

Abu Dhabi T10 League: It’s that time of year when the best cricket players get ready to battle it out in the UAE in the shortest version of the game. The T10 Cricket League will be held at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from November 23 to December 4, 2022. The Deccan Gladiators will be there to defend their title.

The T10 format is the newest one to be added to cricket, and it has been getting more and more popular with each event. In 2017, the first season of the T10 Cricket League took place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In season two, games were played in both Sharjah and Dubai.

According to a five-year hosting rights agreement between the organizers, Abu Dhabi Cricket (ADC), the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT), and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), the 6th season will be played at the famous Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in 2019.

T10 League or Abu Dhabi the United Arab Emirates has a Ten10 cricket league called T10, which was started by and is owned by T Ten Sports Management. The Emirates Cricket Board has given their blessing to the league. Ten overs are played by each team, and each match lasts about 90 minutes. There are two rounds of play in the tournament, followed by the Eliminators and the Final. In 2018, the league was given approval by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The league’s viewership and economic value have grown a lot from one year to the next. For example, 342 million people watched the 2021-2022 tournament on TV and online streaming, compared to about 37 million people who watched the 2017 tournament. The league’s economic impact is now worth USD $621.2 million.

Like every year the megastars of world cricket will light up the tournament with their presence. English opener Jason Roy and veteran Indian batter Suresh Raina will be aiming to set the tournament alight with one of the most popular franchise clubs, Deccan Gladiators. Fans can also witness power-hitting by England’s World Cup-winning captain, Eoin Morgan. Sri Lankan allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva will be part of the tournament too. West Indian allrounder Kieron Pollard will be surprising batters with his slower balls. Andre Russel’s power game will also be on show here. Abu Dhabi T10 team’s owners will be hoping their big stars bring their A game.

History of Abu Dhabi T10 League:

Shaji Ul Mulk, who is the head of T10 League, started the league.

Rules of Abu Dhabi T10 League:

10 of the 11 players on a team can be from outside of the country (from any part of the world).

Which teams are participating in Abu Dhabi T10 League?

In the fifth season of the T10 League, there are six teams. They are the Bangla Tigers, the Deccan Gladiators, the Delhi Bulls, the Northern Warriors, Team Abu Dhabi, and the new Chennai Braves. The Braves are now in the tournament instead of the Maratha Arabians, Qalandars, and Pune Devils. This is because there are now only six teams instead of eight.

The Northern Warriors have won the title the most times in the history of the competition, in 2018 and 2021. In 2017 and 2019, the trophy was won by teams that no longer exist. These teams were the Kerala Kings and the Maratha Arabians. Both the Deccan Gladiators (in 2019) and the Delhi Bulls (in 2021) have made it to the final once.

What’s the format of T10 League?

In the group stage, each team plays each other twice, and the top four teams move on to the playoffs. In the knockout stages, the first- and second-placed teams play each other in the first qualifier. The winner of that game moves on to the final. For a spot in the final, the loser of the qualifier will play the winner of the match between third and fourth.

What occurred the last time in T10 League?

The 2020 T10 League was a tournament with eight teams. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament was moved to January and February 2021. The top two teams were Delhi Bulls and Northern Warriors. They beat Qalandars on net run rate, and Team Abu Dhabi made up the top four.

In the knockout rounds, Delhi Bulls beat Northern Warriors by five wickets and moved on to the final. In the Eliminator, Team Abu Dhabi beat Qalandars by six wickets. Northern Warriors beat Team Abu Dhabi by seven wickets in their second try to get to the final. In the final, they easily beat the Bulls by eight wickets to win their second title. Team Abu Dhabi won the game for third place.

Who are the participants of T10 League?

In the most recent T10 League, 25 English players are taking part. Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy (if he doesn’t get hurt), and Adil Rashid, all from England, have signed up for Delhi Bulls. Their T20 World Cup teammates Liam Livingstone (Team Abu Dhabi), Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali (both Northern Warriors), and Tymal Mills (Deccan Gladiators, if he doesn’t get hurt) will also play.

Livingstone is one of five English players on TAD’s team, along with Phil Salt, Danny Briggs, Chris Benjamin, and Jamie Overton, who took the most wickets last season. Bangla Tigers, on the other hand, have six English players (Benny Howell, Will Jacks, Luke Wood, Tom Hartley, Will Smeed and Adam Lyth). Samit Patel and Ross Whiteley will play with Jordan and Moeen for the Northern Warriors. Tom Banton, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Tom Moores will play with Milles for the Deccan Gladiators. The new team Chennai Braves has signed Ravi Bopara, Roman Walker, and Toby Albert.

Many people who played in the T20 World Cup will also be there, like Andre Russell, David Wiese, Wanindu Hasaranga, Gulbadin Naib (Delhi Bulls), Nicholas Pooran, Migael Pretorius, Curtis Campher (all Chennai Braves), Mark Watt, Josh Little (both Northern Warriors), Chris Gayle, Paul Stirling, and Naveen Ul Haq. Wahab Riaz, a Pakistani bowler, is also taking part, along with Faf du Plessis (Bangla Tigers), Imran Tahir (Northern Warriors), and Marchant de Lange (Team Abu Dhabi).
