Fastest Bowlers: Since One Day International cricket has been around since the 1970s, the shorter version of the game now has access to records and statistics that the Twenty 20 version does not. One-day cricket has changed a lot over the past decade or so, and it has become a lot more batsman-friendly. Because of the batting power play and the popularity of Twenty 20 cricket, which encourages big hits, bowlers are looking for other ways to stop batting teams from scoring.
Only two players in the history of the game have taken 500
Fastest Bowlers: Top-level bowling units have used spin to start the bowling, slower ball bouncers, and Yorkers to good effect. They try to do everything they can to slow down the run rates. Even though one-day international batting is becoming more important and better around the world, there are still a lot of bowlers that worry the best batsmen. Getting wickets in top-level ODI cricket isn’t easy, and many players have tried and failed to be as good with the white ball as they are with the red ball.
Only 13 players in the history of the game have ever been able to reach 300 ODI wickets, which is a huge accomplishment. Because of how hard it is to get wickets in One Day International cricket and how much more important it is to stop people from scoring than to get wickets, only two players in the history of the game have taken 500 or more ODI wickets.
Waqar Younis and Chaminda Vaas, for example, have both taken more than 400 wickets in One Day Internationals, but only the following two legends of the game have taken 500 wickets in ODIs:
List of Fastest Bowlers in Cricket History
1. Muralitharan, Sri Lanka – 500 ODI wickets in 324 matches – 534 total
Muttiah Muralitharan, a legendary spin bowler from Sri Lanka, has taken the most wickets in both Tests and ODIs. He reached 500 ODI wickets in just 324 matches. Many of the best players in the world didn’t understand how he bowled, and he was a very important part of the Sri Lankan team that won the ICC World Cup in 1996. With 534 wickets in ODIs, he is the player with the most wickets in ODI history.
2. Wasim Akram (PAKISTAN): 500 ODI wickets in 354 matches
Wasim Akram, a legendary left-arm seamer, was deadly with the white ball. He could get the ball to swing backwards at a time when very few bowlers could do it. Akram’s partnership with Waqar Younis was famous all over the world, and he was a big reason why Pakistan won the World Cup in 1992. His 502 ODI wickets are the second most in the history of the game, and he reached that mark in his last game for Pakistan, at the 2003 ICC World Cup.
